Villa Da Vinci – Prenzano

This five star private residence, combines the old rustic style of a typical Tuscan stone mansion with  ample grounds giving way to stunning views of magnificent countryside. The main Villa and its granary invite occupants to splurge into pleasures that are yet privileges only few can have in our hectic world: reading that particular book you’ve been wanting to read for a long time, or taking a siesta by the pool while being caressed by the sun; sharing delicious home cooked meals with your beloved ones on a charming old patio, or simply laying on the grass with your kids, counting shooting stars at night. Whether it’s a family gathering or a friends reunion, you’ve come to the right place.

A Historic Manor

Dating back to the 11th century, when the original body of Villa Da Vinci served as a watchtower to guard and observe the disputed territories of Florence and Siena, the Villa has evolved over the centuries and passed its ownership from nobles to nobles, generation after generation.

Today, the two main bodies – the Villa and its granary – offer quintessential, tasteful comfort, as they witness the legacy of its noble occupants and the care for a place that’s conceived as a safe heaven strategically positioned in the best and most beautiful part of Chianti.

The Grounds

The grounds of Villa Da Vinci are as exquisite as the villa itself. Stones and old terracotta tiles give the place its typical Tuscan character; landscaped gardens, patios and terraces facing across the rolling hills invite you to spend endless hours of pure tranquillity. The main terrace offers the perfect setting for al fresco dining, or an aperitif at sunset. Decorated with rustic furnishings and with sensational views, it’s also an ideal space for weddings and group celebrations.

The Granary

The charming ivy covered granary stands opposite the main villa and was turned into an exclusive, cozy private, mini-mansion. Imagine sitting on candidly white sofas and armchairs, chatting with friends by a crackling old stone Tuscan fireplace. Or sampling a cocktail with your partner on the shaded patio overlooking majestic pine trees and lindens.

Wooden beams, Tuscan terracotta floors, antique furniture and colorful tiles: we thought of the granary as a cheerful alcove for couples.

The Pool

The sublime pool beckons you in for a dip, with comfortable sunbeds on hand to dry off in the idyllic Tuscan sun. If it’s shade you seek from the midday heat, there is a magical wooded area within the grounds, where you can laze away a shady afternoon with a good book or glass of local Chianti wine, it’s that simple.

The Interiors

Villa da Vinci offers lots of space, as it accomodates up to 13 people with 7 rooms and 7 bathrooms – including the granary. The materials are all typically local and witness the heritage of the place: old terracotta tiles, wooden beams and ancient stones.

The Bedrooms

Five out of six bedrooms occupy the first floor of Villa Da Vinci. The rustic feel of wooden beams, matches the antique decor in every room. Old hand crafted terracotta tiles cover the floors and witness a history dating back to centuries ago. There are 3 double bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms.

The sumptuous master bedroom has two ensuite bathrooms, one for him and one for her.

A further single bedroom, located on the ground floor has access to the outside terrace via the dining room.

The Bathrooms

Four bathrooms occupy the first floor, one is found on the mezzanine level leading to the ground floor, where the sixth bathroom is located. Each bathroom is carefully decorated with tasteful colored tiles, in the tones of yellows, azure and green.

The Living areas

The voluminous and bright living room on the ground floor is indulgently comfortable. A magnificent fireplace takes centre stage, with luxuriously comfortable oversized sofas and armchairs placed in different rooms for easy conversation. A rustic dining table comfortably seats eight, as well as the beautiful teak table on the patio sitting ten. The brick BBQ outside invites you to grill T-bone classic Tuscan steaks while roasting bread for Bruschetta, that you’ll enjoy with top quality Tuscan extra virgin olive oil, fresh tomato salads and greens organically grown nearby. Our Guests Say…

François Mignon - France

I discovered Villa da Vinci more than 20 years ago and do not get tired of going back every year, waiting for the end of each stay to come back. This villa with its incomparable charm has everything to seduce me. It has a typically Tuscan architecture and as such is very authentic. It is located in a beautiful setting, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and cypresses, far from other residences without being isolated, allowing you to enjoy a remarkable tranquillity. The views that are open to the gaze are vast, varied and sumptuous. The swimming pool makes it possible to refresh the summer and the terraces like the loggia give the possibility to eat outside choosing the view that one prefers. All is done for a pleasant vacation when one appreciates Italy, its artistic richness (Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Pisa) and the joie de vivre of the Italians.

We stayed twice at Villa da Vinci – once for my dad’s 70th birthday and the second time for my 40th birthday. We enjoyed our stay very much, one of the reasons was the location close to Greve and overlooking Tuscany – also very nice view on Panzano. We enjoyed the beautiful villa which was very well kept and enjoyed the service of Massimo who was always available if we needed help or advice. The children especially enjoyed the pool and we had wonderful evenings on the terrace outside. We would gladly stay again!

The Villa da Vinci was everything we imagined for our holiday in the Chianti region of Tuscany. The villa itself offered comfortable and spacious accommodation with a detectable note of historical ambiance. The views on the grounds were captivating all around, particularly at sunset. The location in Prenzano was within an easy drive of many interesting towns, famous wineries and other must-see attractions such as Firenze. It was a glorious, fun-filled week. We enjoyed it so much we returned for a second stay a few years later.
